Review:
Style: The Last Royale has a very simplistic art-style but it works for the way the game plays and allows for a clear and easy-to-understand gameplay experience. A sharp UI and unique equipment art help the player know exactly what they are using and how to use it. The sounds are also simple and concise but can also become too much, especially in the lobby. All the sound effects play at a similar volume and stack up, leading to a somewhat jarring experience.
Length and Replay-ability (and potential length): The Last Royale is a battle royale game and each game can last anywhere from a few minutes to around 10 minutes depending on how long you stay alive. As with other battle royale games, trying to get a win in The Last can be addicting, and chasing that goal will leave you queueing up to play over and over. The replayability is endless and it is a great game to come back to for some quick and enjoyable gameplay.
Difficulty: The Last Royale can be a difficult outing when you first play, as there is a lot of different equipment to learn and master but after a few quick rounds the game starts to make a lot more sense. Any battle royale game has a skill curve and can take a bit to get used to but The Last's clear gameplay allows for quick learning and improvement. The most difficult part about these types of games comes through other players and the experience and skill they may bring to the table.
Overall Gameplay and Final Score: The Last Royale is clearly birthed from the formula of Battle Royale games but it does it right. A fun and rewarding experience that can also be played easily with friends leads to a game that many can enjoy and come back to. The game isn't revolutionary for the genre in any way, but it doesn't have to be. Go give The Last Royale a shot and see if you can score the win.
8/10
